Our 2022 higher education survey reveals what IT decision-makers in higher education are prioritizing, including modernization and data security initiatives.

In collaboration with Industry Dive, we asked 100 higher education IT decision-makers about their modernization goals for 2022 and beyond. Here’s what they told us:
Protection against cyberthreats is a major concern.
More than half of respondents said that data security (57%) and cybersecurity (56%) were among the top priorities for their institution’s IT modernization initiatives.
52% of respondents said they expected their institution’s IT investment to increase between 11% and 25% over the next year, while an additional 18% anticipate their spending will increase by more than 25%.
And, that spending is centered in three key areas:
And, other popular areas for IT investment are the cloud, Anything as a Service (XaaS) solutions and esports.
“The primary goal of my institution’s IT modernization strategy is to have updated technology that is cost-effective.”
More than one out of five higher education IT decision-makers (22%) cited lack of a clear strategy as one of the most significant factors limiting progress toward IT modernization goals.
